TWC: ‘Anticipation’

This week’s Trifecta Challenge word is ‘Anticipation’ and the third definition is:’
a : visualization of a future event or state
b : an object or form that anticipates a later type. ‘

To me, the first one cries of a festive themed anticipation of the big day – Christmas. The second calls to me as evolution, which would be more complex, perhaps more interesting. I don’t think I can resist the Christmas one this time of year though..

Our time of festive cheer,
Not diminished by weather,
The frosted laden nights,
Just waiting for snow,
And the fire-gold house welcomes me home.

The red heat dancing on the hearth,
As boots stamp snow into the mat,
The tree is come!
The lights are up!
The calendar is in place!
The haze of cheer is tangible.

The radio’s playing Christmas tunes,
We’re belting out the lyrics too,
We’re sitting around the party lights,
We’re all the loudest,
Happiest voice!
It’s a time of family.

We’re all waiting,
That sense of anticipation,
Just insatiable,
The big day will come,
O’ Christmas!

There we go!
